These hearing aids come in two sizes, Invisible in the Canal (known as an IIC) which is the smallest you can get, or Completely in the Canal (known as a CIC) that is slightly bigger.
Both IIC and CIC hearing aids are generally suited for clients with a mild to moderate hearing loss that want a discreet fitting that isn’t noticeable unless someone already knows you’re wearing them.
They take the smallest battery (Yellow size 10), but due to their size, they have fewer features available. Options such as rechargeability aren’t available with these models as the size doesn’t allow for it.

These are the medium size of the in the ear custom fit hearing aid models and offer a wide range of features.
ITC hearing aids come in two sizes, In the Canal (known as an ITC) and Half Shell which is slightly larger. Due to their size, these fit a wider range of hearing losses and will suit clients with a mild, moderate, or even severe hearing loss.
They generally take a medium battery (Brown size 312) and can offer a wider range of features such as Bluetooth/Wireless connectivity, Telecoil and in some cases Rechargeable options.
In The Ear (ITE)
These are the largest size of the in the ear custom fit hearing aid models and cover all hearing loss levels and optional features.
ITE hearing aids come in one size, with the option of In the Ear (known as ITE) or Full Shell fitting. They are made to fit a wider range of hearing losses and will suit clients with a mild, moderate or severe hearing loss.
These generally take the larger battery (Orange size 13) and provide a wider range of features such as Bluetooth/Wireless connectivity, Telecoil and Rechargeable options
Receiver in Canal (RIC)
These are the one of the most popular hearing aid models on the market at the moment, with rechargeability and a smaller behind the ear component.
They can come in different behind the ear sizes, but are generally a lot smaller and more comfortable than traditional behind the ear hearing aids. RIC hearing aids fit a wider range of hearing losses and will suit clients of all hearing loss levels.
They are normally rechargeable with Bluetooth and wireless connectivity. You can also get standard battery models.
Behind the Ear (BTE)
These are one of the more traditional hearing aid fittings and are widely used by the NHS.
BTE hearing aids come in different behind the ear sizes, but are generally bigger than the Receiver in the Canal models. They are made to fit all ranges of hearing difficulties, and are the most recommended model for profound hearing loss.
