Microsuction Ear Wax Removal

Our home visits are only available for microsuction. Microsuction ear wax removal is one of our most popular services and is available for home visits. This service uses a hospital-grade suction machine to guarantee consistent, safe pressure levels whilst gently removing excess ear wax from your inner ear.

How To Prepare For An Ear Wax Removal Home Visit

Before all of our ear wax removal appointments, it’s important to soften the ear wax in your ear to make it easier to remove during the procedure. This can help reduce any dizziness or side effects during or after the appointment, as removing it won’t take as much work.

We advise that you use a trusted wax softener such as Earol to soften the wax for at least one week before the appointment. Please be aware that it’s normal to experience a temporary worsening of hearing while using wax softener, as the wax begins to shift around your ear canal.

If you’ve already tried wax removal and are still having problems with your hearing, visit our hearing tests and hearing aids pages for more information on the next steps for you.

Ear Wax Removal Home Visit FAQs

Can I Have Someone With Me During The Appointment?

We often encourage our clients to bring someone with them to our clinic appointments and that’s no different for our ear wax removal home visits. Having someone you’re comfortable with alongside you can help to calm nerves and assist with hearing and understanding the procedure. Feel free to ask someone to be with you during your appointment.

Are There Any Side Effects of Ear Wax Removal Home Visits?

Both of our home visit ear wax removal treatments are relatively side effect-free and safe to use. Some clients may feel slightly dizzy or faint during the procedure or shortly afterwards, but these won’t last long and are nothing to worry about. If you should start to feel bad at any point, simply let our clinician know and we’ll be more than happy to help and offer advice to mitigate it until it goes away.

How Long Does The Appointment Last?

Our home visit ear wax removal appointments last around 30-45 minutes, however we never rush any of our appointments and take as long as is needed to get the job done right.

What Health Precautions Do You Put in Place?

This is down to client preference. If you’re worried about COVID-19 or other illnesses, our clinician will be happy to wear a facemask at all times throughout the appointment. They will also wear PPE gloves and an apron to ensure they can conduct the procedure and keep you safe. If you have any specific requirements or needs, please ensure that you discuss this with our team when booking your appointment.
